Albany State Baseball salvages split with Lane College

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Golden Rams made up for a tough series opener on Saturday. After falling in a close 5-2 first game, Albany State came back, ran off a four-run fifth frame and earned the doubleheader split, 11-3, against Lane College baseball.

Leading 2-1, ASU saw it one-run lead be erased in the bottom of the sixth inning as Lane drove in three scores for a 4-2 edge. The home team added an insurance run in the seventh and held the Golden Rams off the scoreboard for the 5-2 final.

In the late contest, the visiting Golden Rams wasted no time in taking the lead with a single score in the top of the first. ASU added a single tally in the third and two more in the fourth for a then 4-0 advantage. Following a Dragon run in the home fourth, the Golden Rams posted a game-deciding four runs to make it an 8-2 margin. ASU won the final two innings by a 3-2 score for the 11-3 ending total.

On the day at the plate, Jonathan Logsdon made up for a hitless first game by hitting 4 for 5 effort. He doubled twice, tripled and homered, while he scored three times and drove in four runs. Luke Addison spread out his 4 for 10 day by singling twice first and then he doubled and tripled in the win with a RBI.

Corley Hill added a 3 for 4 effort with two RBI in game one and Nathan Saavedrasingled two times with two runs late. 

On the hill, Jeremiah Reddell picked up the pitching win with taking care of the first four innings of game two where he allowed only four hits, no earned runs and two strikeouts. Calvin Baker took care of the final three frames where he gave up gave up three hits himself without an earned run and fanned three.
